Since microblading goes a little bit more skin deep, it’s important to consider your skin type too. Why? Because your skin type affects how your skin will heal after the procedure. It also affects the rate at which the pigment will fade.
There are four common skin types: normal, oily, dry, or combination. And usually, people with oily skin are hesitant about microblading because it might not work on them. Don’t worry, though, because it does! So you can still book that microblading appointment. And to ensure that the pigment will last a long time, there are certain steps for microblading aftercare for oily skin you can follow.
First, let’s look at how different skin types heal after a microblading procedure. This will help understand how your skin type affects the healing process. And why people with oily skin might have to take extra care of their new eyebrows.
Normal skin types (those not prone to breakouts) heal evenly, and the pigment will last for the average length of time. So it will take one or one and a half years before it needs a touch-up.
Dry skin types have almost invisible pores. You can tell if you have dry skin if it feels tight throughout the day and if you see some flaking. However, dry skin heals cleanly. It also retains the color of the microblading pigment the longest, up to 1.5+ years. This is because dry skin produces lesser oils that dilute the pigment.
Combination skin heals similarly to normal types or slightly oily skin. This is because it’s pretty common for the eyebrow area to be oily.
If you have oily skin, your skin tends to be more hydrated naturally and ages nicely. However, excess oil could easily clog your pores. Oily skin types also tend to have larger pores. With slight oiliness, though, the skin will heal more like normal skin. But with very oily skin, the pigment will be more spread out.
Here are some recommended steps you can take to take care of your skin and help with the healing process for oily skin types.
Oily skin types can still get microblading. There are just a few more steps they will need to do to ensure that their new brows will come out perfect. And what’s a little more effort to have stunning eyebrows, right?
