Microblading Care Step By Step And What To Avoid

Following the completion of the cosmetic procedure, it is necessary to adhere to the after care procedures in order to aid in the healing and achieve the best results for your micro bladed eyebrows. Here are some steps on what you should do and some things you should avoid doing.

After the procedure

Gently pat the area to soak up the excess lymph fluid with a clean tissue. This is crucial because you don't want the fluid to harden on your brows. Do this the entire day until the bleeding stops.

Day 1-7: Wash and Moisturize.

You can wash the area without getting your eyebrows wet. See below for a step-by-step breakdown.

How to wash safely

After a microblading procedure, microblading artists or technicians will always advise their clients not to get their eyebrows wet for several days as this will wash off the pigment.

When washing the face, it's best to just pat your face clean instead of washing it. You can do so by:

  1. Wetting the sponge or washcloth with warm or lukewarm water
  2. Rub in a small amount of soap
  3. Squeeze out the excess water
  4. Carefully pat the sponge or cloth around your face while avoiding your brows
  5. Dry the skin carefully with a towel, still avoiding the brows

Day 8-14: wash the area twice a day.

Continue washing the area around your brows. You can also apply an aftercare ointment to speed up the healing and keep it hydrated.

Tips during healing

Your technician will also give you an aftercare balm or cream to help heal your microbladed brows. You can also follow these tips to support the healing process.

  • Apply the ointment or cream - make sure to apply the one your technician gives you for microblading care. The cream helps the skin retain moisture and form a protective barrier.
  • Don't let your skin dry out - moist skin heals more quickly.
  • Don't use an antibiotic ointment - if you suspect that you have an infection, see your doctor first before you apply any medicated product on your healing eyebrows.

Things to avoid

Part of the extra microblading care you need is to avoid things that could put you at risk of infections and irritation. Here are some of the things you need to avoid.

  • Doing heavy household cleaning. Dust from unsanitary areas may cause irritation and infection.
  • Driving open-air vehicles such as convertibles, bicycles, boats, or motorcycles. Airborne debris could injure the sensitive skin around your brows.
  • Playing sports, going to saunas, and other activities that make you sweat excessively.
  • Prolonged exposure to the sun or going to tanning salons. UV/UVA rays can cause the color to fade.
  • Picking, peeling, or scratching your brows or the area around it
  • Drinking alcohol excessively or eating too much spicy food as they can lead to slow healing of wounds
